For my money, Justin Thomas is pound-for-pound the longest hitter on the PGA Tour. Standing at 5’10” and weighing only 160 lbs, Thomas is consistently ranked in the upper echelon of players when it comes to driving distance. With that being said, let’s take a deeper look into how far JT hits each club.
The stock yardages for Justin Thomas are as follows: Driver: 300 yds, 3-Wood: 275 yds, 5-Wood: 250 yds, 4-Iron: 228 yds, 5-Iron: 212 yds, 6-Iron: 200 yds, 7-Iron: 185 yds, 8-Iron: 172 yds, 9-Iron: 160 yds, Pitching Wedge (47.5°): 142 yds, Gap Wedge (52.5°): 126 yds, Sand Wedge (57°): 112 yds, Lob Wedge (60.5°): 100 yds.
Keep in mind, stock yardages are carry distance only. So this is how far he hits his clubs on the fly, without any roll. For a man of Justin’s stature, these numbers are quite impressive.
Keep reading to find out what golf clubs and ball JT uses to achieve these stock yardages.
What Clubs Does Justin Thomas Use?
As of August 2022, Justin Thomas had the following clubs in the bag.
- Driver: Titleist TSR3 (10 degrees)
- 3-Wood: Titleist TS3 (15 degrees)
- 5-Wood: Titleist 915 FD (18 degrees)
- 4 Iron: Titleist T100
- 5-9 Iron: Titleist 621.JT
- Pitching Wedge: Titleist Vokey Design SM9 (47.5°)
- Gap Wedge: Titleist Vokey Design SM9 (52.5°)
- Sand Wedge: Titleist Vokey Design SM9 (57°)
- Lob Wedge: Titleist Vokey Design WedgeWorks (60.5°)
- Putter: Scotty Cameron X5 Tour Prototype
As you can tell, Justin is team Titleist through and through. He doesn’t tend to switch clubs very often with the exception of his driver. In the past year, he’s used the TS3, TSi3, TSi2, and has recently added the new Titleist TSR3 to the bag. So far, he’s had high praise for the new driver. Take a look at what he said about it at the recent FedEx St. Jude Championship.
“The biggest difference is the spin,” Thomas said after his first-round 67 in Memphis. “When I heel it, it doesn’t spin crazy high and when I toe it, it’s somehow spinning a little more. It’s unbelievable in terms of misses.”

What Golf Ball Does Justin Thomas Use?
Justin Thomas uses the 2021 Titleist Pro V1x golf ball. For him, this golf ball provides optimal spin around the greens and launches into angles that fit his eyes when it comes to full shots. JT using a Pro V1x should come as no surprise as the Pro V1 and Pro V1x lines are the most popular golf balls used on the PGA Tour. As of this writing, nearly 70% of the top 100 players on the tour use the Pro V1 or Pro V1x.
Here’s a cool video of Justin testing out the Pro V1 vs Pro V1x last year (2021). Similar to Dustin Johnson, JT likes to test his golf ball by starting around the greens first before moving on to the longer shots. Something all of us amateurs should be doing as well.
Final Thoughts
Justin Thomas is one of the best ball strikers on the planet. For a man of his size, he generates a ton of speed and power, which is evident by his stock yardages. His stock yardages are comparable to the likes of Jon Rahm, who has 4 inches and close to 60 lbs on him. It just goes to show size and strength aren’t the only ways to generate clubhead speed. Technique and flexibility also play a role and Justin certainly has plenty of both.
